Nature is slowly diminishing because of the advances in technology and the need for more land. Birds and other wildlife are losing their natural habitat and instead, are being put in cages at zoos or stuffed in people’s homes for display. “A White Heron” seeks to show the power of the individual. If everyone in society performed one selfless act to preserve their homeland as Sylvia does, this world would be a better place.
