not worry about offending anyone with his writing, which I admire. There are qualities that Ambrose Bierce possessed which I have never encountered before. Most authors write from their hearts, yet there is something about his stories that show who he really was and what he stood for. He was a most intriguing author, with an equally fascinating life whose name, in my opinion, should be given the same respect as Whitman, Poe, and Hemingway.
