Hewlett-Packard and Compaq merged this past spring to form one of the largest IT companies in the market today. This merger has reshaped and changed the two companies significantly and has affected the computer industry, in general, to a great extent.

In the long run this merger would help the now unemployed computer-industry labor to get jobs as centralization always creates new jobs even though the rate of creation of these jobs may not be as high (relatively) as the rate of accumulation of capital. And lastly it will help in bringing new and advanced products in the markets.
