There are many types of bonds in the play Antigone. There is the love bond between Antigone and her fiancée, Haemon. There is a bond between parents and children, as well as the blood bond between siblings. However, for Antigone, it is only the bond between siblings that prevails above the law.

Everything that she does throughout the play is out of this respect and obedience. The bond between her and Haemon couldn’t cause her to do wrong. The bond between Haemon and Creon couldn’t justify breaking the law. But, the bond between Antigone and her loved brother became her ultimate demise.
