South Africa is a country tormented by a past of enforced racism and separation of its
multi-racial community. The 'superior' white Europeans invaded the country and imposed a
political system known as 'Apartheid' (meaning 'apartness'). This system severely restricted the
rights and lifestyle of the non-white inhabitants of the country forcing them to live separately

Africans today. The generations of separation of cultures will remain as an unfortunate part of
South African past. While most are more than happy to forget the prejudiced way in which society
operated, some still believe that although apartheid is no longer in place, that it is the way
society should be. This way of thought may be something that South Africa may never get rid of.
