The choices were to compromise and appease, invade, or bomb, and using atomic bombs was the best choice then and now in hindsight. Also, if we had not used the atomic bomb on the Japanese and shown what terrible damage, death, and devastation it caused, Americans may have been the first target for this weapon of mass destruction in the future.
