"I change lives." Whenever I feel as if I have become just another animate lump of carbon, an indistinguishable number within the masses, nothing reaffirms my self-confidence than those three simple words. After all, it is not every 17 year-old that can honestly make such an assertion; most teenagers are grocery store clerks, waiters and waitresses, stock boys, and every other clichéd teenage mode of employment. but reflects my personal pride at having supplied him with what he needed to achieve.
Despite what I do, I may not be the best-paid, the most-admired, or even the most-appreciated of teenagers in the local work force. However, confident and energized, I leave the pool each week, knowing not only that I possess the power to change another life, but also that I have the ability and drive to change the world around me.
