In “Colors” Yevgeny Yevtushenko uses the speaker, lots of imagery, and some metaphoric phrases. Each element is specially used to enhance his poem to tell a vivid story about a saddened individual. An individual with feelings. The poem’s main purpose seems to reach out and grasp the audience’s attention, so a possible connection can be made.
In the first few lines of “Colors,” Yevtushenko refers to “Your face appeared over my crumpled life..”

another. And yet, it seems to find a ‘bright-spot,’ and gives hidden meaning and value to the term ‘hope.’ By ‘hope,’ we are ensured a valuable feeling... Consciousness. The awareness that both good and evil inherit our lives, and there’s no sense “crying over spilled milk.” Love comes and goes, all that matters is what you gain from those experiences and how use them to provide a sense of satisfaction in your own life.
