After the First World War, Europe was completely ravished, with millions dead, millions of dollars in debt, and a broken infrastructure. People in Europe often were subject to famine, disease and dissidence. In Germany the main support for fascism came in 1929 after the fall of the stock market. In addition Hitler was able to gain support from anti-democratic forces. In closing it is not too far from imgination that had WWI not occurred fascism would not have been born.
