The theme of looks can be deceiving was the main theme in The Last Safe Place On Earth and one of the many main themes in Macbeth. The reader cannot help but feel sorry for Laurel and Macbeth because they are so stubborn and they know that, eventually, it will catch up to them and in most cases, it will be cause a major conflict in their lives.
