The Betrayer
22:11–19 Doeg the Edomite was a treacherous man who acted the part of a spy. He not only betrayed David’s position to Saul, but implicated Ahimelech and his fellow priests as accomplices. The result was a death sentence for an entire city (1 Sam. 22:11–19).
David greatly grieved over this incident (22:20–23). Part of his reaction was to compose Psalm 52, which should be read in conjunction with 1 Sam. 22.
