The electoral college is a confusing way of conducting an election. It is a method that has
confused me, and many other people for quite some time. The amount of electoral votes
that each state is worth depends on how many people that state has in the House of
Representatives and then add the two senators. So for instance Maine has 4 electoral

be split up among the candidates. Many people argue that this is the way each state
should work. Many people also disagree. The electoral college has snubbed the overall
popular vote winner three times in nations history. In my mind a democracy should run in
a manner that would be majority rules. Popular vote would be the best way to choose our
nation’s leaders. If not the best way, than at least fairest way.
