Private lives By Noel Coward Performed by Nothcott Theatre Company Private lives is a play that is set in France, 1930's which explores the absurdities of human emotions. The story is based around two recently married couples who are on the there honeymoon. I will reflect on my understanding of how the elements of drama are used in the play, and deliver my interpretation.

two couples. Although unlike "Private Lives", The Importance of being Ernest" has much more characters. This is because "Private Lives" is spread over a very intense couple of days, therefore it is probable that they won't meet anyone else in that time, and so the story is focused on only four main characters, plus a maid, whereas "The Importance of being Ernest" is spread over several weeks, therefore a broader range of characters is needed.
