Hamlet obviously transformed from being his normal self to a Hamlet bent on revenge and vengeance for his father. I believe Hamlet would have been much happier if he had rather slain Claudius when he had the chance. Who can blame Hamlet for acting the way he did? It was only a matter of time before his emotions and anger got the best of him.
