So Egypt tied into the Industrial revolution because it temporarily replaced the United States of America in the ever important cotton industry, and because it was essentially controlled by powerhouse Britain. Egypt didn’t gain nominal independence until 1922, eight years after the industrial revolution. Finally, in 1953, Egypt became a republic.
