Knowledge is Power
When you look at America’s rise to power during the post civil war era it is easy as well as trivial to attribute it to the abundance of natural resources and plethora of new inventions. But really we must consider how those inventions came about and how those natural resources were utilized to a productive end. More importantly than what made America the most powerful country in the world is why.

and productive ideas and inventions in a society. These inventions, such as the light bulb, and telephone, increased efficiency and therefore increased power.
Fortunately America was gifted with resource rich land. During this era iron, coal, and oil played the biggest roles in the development of Americas economic infrastructure. Abundant resources gave few restrictions on growth.
A very important lesson can be drawn from this occurrence. Freedom cultivates ideas. Opportunity promotes intuition. Knowledge is power.
