Lucretius believes that there is a difference between the body and the spirit. He believes that both are material, and that the spirit is mortal and separate organ extending throughout the body. Lucretius believes that there is no afterlife, and therefore there is nothing to be afraid of. Thomas Aquinas however, believes that the soul will live on after the body dies.
