Roy Meadow first defined Munchausen by Proxy Syndrome (MBPS) in his 1977 paper “Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy – the hinterland of child abuse”. A lot is still unknown about this condition, hindering its detection. Some have suggested a link between MBPS and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SID).
