My Antonia, by Willa Cather, is a modernist novel with so much depth to it. The author addresses important issues of equality/non equality in marriage between husband and wife; the stereotype of women being unable to take care of themselves; the bond that children can achieve in childhood; and the lives of those children when they are no longer able to be young and carefree. …showed last 75 words of 1446 total…it would have been more effective if Cather maybe had the “hired girls” befriend a woman from the inner city, and help change her life. My Antonia is an amazing novel which sheds light on the modernistic views of many, and most likely helped women to feel more powerful and that they have the potential to be great. Willa Cather has an excellent style of writing, and she portrayed the characters and the story well.
