Washington- does not want to run for President but people convince him that the country needs him. He’s seen as a hero and no one questions the respect he commands. He did not have wooden teeth, contrary to popular belief, nor chop down the cherry tree. He did marry his wife, Martha Washington for her money. Anyway he agrees to run and he wins. He serves two terms from 1789-1797.

the war and agrees to sell the Louisiana Territory to Jefferson. This purchase doubles the size of the United States and gets Napoleon out of our land.
Louisiana Purchase- Jefferson buys the Territory for 15 million dollars. It extends from the Rocky Mountains to the Mississippi River. This allows for free exploration of the Mississippi River. A large benefit besides the land size being doubled is the gain of control of New Orleans-a profitable trading post.
