Panoptic societies are very orderly, efficient, economically sustainable, but in exchange, also inhumanly cruel and oppressive.. However, Foucault does not advocate this quasi-utopian world, his fact-spewing is instead to make the reader connect the modern prisons, factories, schools, barracks, and hospitals; not to the physical Panopticon, but instead our society to Panopticism.
