because the reader becomes involved with the story. The audience feels compelled to help out the characters in any way possible. Romeo doesn’t want to fight Tybalt, knowing that they are new cousins. Because of Romeo’s banishment, Juliet cries for Romeo and not Tybalt. Everybody including Romeo thought that Juliet was dead, so Romeo killed himself. The story of Romeo and Juliet becomes a tragedy because of the dramatic irony in the play.
