There are many issues that plague our cities today and one of these most prominent issues is spatial mismatch. First, let me define the phrase spatial mismatch. “It means that employers who are looking to hire unskilled or semi-skilled workers are far from potential employees in the city or inner-ring suburbs.”(Regionwise, pg. 4). However, there are plans and solutions that can help eliminate this situation.

providing quality housing for low-income families, it provides affordable housing for the middle-income households. Another goal of the proposal is to decrease the amount of traffic, which would reduce the amount of air pollution within the city. Furthermore, the goal is to recycle the vacant substandard neighborhoods and economic centers of the downtown vicinity. Overall, the goal is to increase urban growth and reverse the effects of spatial mismatch within the Saint Louis City area.
