World War I brought many new technological advancements to the battlefield, such as pill boxes, flamethrowers, and mustard gas. But with all this new technology there were no new tactics to use them. Soldiers fought a traditional styled war, but suffered many casualties due to the new technology. Though in modern warfare these technological advancements are either un-ethical or commonplace, the pioneers of such weapons were amazed. If soldiers had been more accurately trained, or if better strategies had been invented the number of casualties of World War I might have been reduced. But if these advancements were used properly, who knows what the result of World War I would have been?
