The bubonic plague got its name because of the symptoms of the disease. Bubonic plague causes very painful, swollen lymph nodes, called buboes. These swollen lymph nodes are mostly found first in the groin area, which is “boubon” in Latin. I would most likely succumb to the superstitions and begin bathing in human urine or covering myself in feces. That just wouldn’t be cool. All in all, the bubonic plague sucks. It’s a horrible disease and I wouldn’t wish for my worst enemy to have it.
