The presidential election of 1932 was the Democratic candidate Franklin D. Roosevelt and the Republican candidate Herbert C. Hoover. America was reeling from the stock market crash of 1929 and they were looking for someone that would lead them past this horrible time and into prosperity. This subject alone was the tone for the election. If the candidates couldn’t prove that they had a plan they wouldn’t be the next President.

When the election was held in the fall of 1931 the votes were very clear as to who America wanted for their next President. When the votes came in the popular vote for Roosevelt was 57.4% and for Hoover 39.6%. Roosevelt won 45 states with 472 votes and Hoover won 5 states with 59 votes.
After the election Roosevelt would lead America out of the Great Depression and would be considered one of the greatest presidents of all time.
