Lyman Frank Baum was the man who had written the Wizard of Oz. The book began when his children asked him to tell them a story. He told of a little Kansas girl who was carried away by a cyclone. He continued to write Oz books until his death on May 5, 1919. The children could not believe that he died and still continue to send letter so the Reilly and Lee publishers. Some writers tried to continue the Oz books but they just weren’t the same.
