The homosexual and heterosexual distinction is indeed an unstable structure of knowledge. This instability and anxiousness of this reciprocal definition is inherent due to the very nature of sexuality--its invisibility and tendency towards secrecy in the form of the closet. Heterosexuality and homosexuality is inevitably intertwined with each other. One cannot exist without the other. The fine line has become a grey area, exposing the instability of the binary structure of knowledge. The surfacing of bisexuality has indicated a want for a better defining structure of sexuality. Perhaps even a trinary, mutually exclusive structure is too limiting for the relativity needed for the fluid nature of human sexuality.
