Everyone struggles with interpretation because translations can be interpreted into many individual truths. When Hugh characterizes “always” as a silly word, he demonstrates his willingness to change. He has stepped into modernity because the word always means no change. Hugh’s forgetfulness at the end of the play symbolizes his acceptance of the English language because “ To remember everything is a form of madness”(pg.88).
