showed last 75 words of 1193 total…Jim's life, he does it only to ensure that Jim will be a witness and save him from hanging when they return to civilisation. He then abandons his shipmates and fellow pirates, rejoining the squire, the doctor and the captain. Long John changes sides only when he feels that he will get the better end of the bargain. Despite the use of coincidence in the novel I found "Treasure Island" an adventurous and worthwhile read.
