A Lesson to Learn
The poem “THE Ex-Basketball Player” written by John Updike is a study into the life of a guy named Flick, who has grown up to pump gasoline at Berth’s Garage. Flick’s high school days were filled with success as a player. The writer of the poem seems that Flick has wasted his potential; however, Flick himself seems to be quite content with his life.
