The philosophy was resurrected in the 1960’s through the hippies, who, now as aging baby boomers, still practice it today. Mainstream America definitely is not ready to go into the woods to find higher truth and forget its capitalistic roots. However, it would be a more enjoyable place if some Transcendentalist notions, such as the end to blind conformity, became more common in this society.
