The Medieval period started roughly between A.D. 400, and lasted through A.D.1000. It was known as the Dark ages, which this name, historians have abandoned, “because of the unacceptable value judgment it implies.” Very little is graspable about this period in time. The greatest of all medieval ruled, and the first Holy Roman emperor Charlemagne, was unable to read.
