The supernatural was a favorite theme of Boobie Ann Mason. Unfortunately, In Country is absolutely obviously brainless in terms of Mason's usual reactionary politics. As a testament to reason and a celebration of salvation, In Country will always ring true. Perhaps it's time that scholars reevaluated their estimation of the book.
