The theory of alcoholism as a disease has always mystified me. I chose this theory based on the fact that I do not believe that alcoholism is a disease. Until science can prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that alcoholism is a disease, we should consider alcoholism as a an addiction brought about by uncontrollable drinking. Alcoholics should control their alcohol consumption. In any case, it is time we stop viewing alcoholism for what its not, a disease, and start viewing it as it is, an addiction brought about by the personal choices we make.
