However in dying, she left a note condemning Hippolytus to his death, which was obviously the work of her Id which was controlled in this play by Aphrodite. Hence throughout this play we were able to witness all three sides of Phaedras mind: her emotional/passionate side, her logical/rational side and finally her moral side.
