Auditory agnosia can result from metabolic disorders, trauma, tumors, infection, stroke, dementia, or other neurological disorders. Individuals, who suffer from auditory agnosia, may retain their cognitive abilities in other areas. These types of disorders, central auditory processing disorders, can compromise the quality of life. But, if diagnosed early, the patient and their family can get the help they need to overcome some of the barriers caused by auditory agnoisa.
