CAPITAL PUNISHMENT Every year there are about 250 people added to death row and 35 executed. The death penalty is the harshest form of punishment enforced in the United Sates today. Once a jury has convicted a criminal of an offense they go to the second part of the trial, the punishment phase. Those who do get caught, don't stay in a jail cell for the rest of their live, many convicted criminals only end up serving one-third of their sentence. If we could get the murderers off our streets, it could mean a safer place for everyone; people would once again begin to feel safe in their own homes. The only other argument we can offer is the knowledge that no executed murderer has ever killed again.
