With the death of Simon comes the end of humanism and spirituality which foreshadows the true start of savagery in the Lord of the Flies. In the story "Lord of the Flies" the Beast is an unseen force that represents the savagery that lays dormant in all men. The Beast is the feared force that pushes Simon through weakness, hysteria, and last true insight.
