However, she dies tragically from Roman fever, something that could have been prevented if she followed the European culture, and her mother's advice, to be in early, and not be on the streets late at night. All in all, this story shows the battles between European customs, and Daisy wanting to just be herself, unencumbered by the societal norms around her.
