In 1907, Rolls-Royce stepped in with its 40/50 hp Silver Ghost. This car was the first to exceed 100 mph, it set standards for cars to come, with it quiet running, hence the name.
Finally in 1908, the Ford model T was created. This car stayed in production until 1927, by which time had sold 15 million. It was such a great seller because it was cheap, reliable, and easy to maintain.
