There are many techniques that writers use to further develop their literature. Through these techniques a writer chooses how he or she wants the story to be understood, how the characters are perceived, how the place and time of the story are important, and when to twist the plot in another direction. There for his life is hopeless in his eyes and he is as dead as the man is he just murdered. Edgar Allan Poe is a tremendous author who knows exactly how to use symbolism and irony to enhance his stories.
