After reading this chapter, I was able to understand some of the effects that urbanization can have on the environment and just drastic and detrimental they can be. Some of these effects include, Population Growth, Erosion and Sedimentation, Urban Runoff, Increased Nitrogen Levels in Water, Increased Phosphorus Levels in Water, Sewage Overflows, Waterborne Pathogens, Toxic Metals Present in Water and Pesticides Present in Water as well. This seriously affects the respiration of fish and aquatic invertebrates and can lead to a decrease in animal and plant diversity, which in turn affects the use of the water for fishing, swimming, and boating. Lastly, too much nitrate in drinking water can be harmful to young infants or young livestock, which is always a concern. I think that is a major concern and that something should definitely be done to combat this problem.
