Do you ever wonder if what you are saying is the original word for something being explained or is it just a cover-up to replace something unacceptable by society? In our language today there is many phrases or words that help conceal what society fears the most, such as our fears, anxieties, or our own personal shames. These words or phrases are what is known as euphemisms. There are two different ways that euphemisms

long ago that they have been adopted in our vocabulary and no one truly remembers the real motivation. Examples of these types of euphemisms are words like cemetary, which is very common in our language, but the true motivation of this euphemism is the word sleeping place, and even before that was the word graveyard, these three euphemisms all mean entirely the same thing, but each one has its own suitable place in our society.
