Fannie Lou Townsend was born in a Mongomery County in Mississippi. She was the 20th child in her family. When she was 2 she and her family moved to sunflowercounty, Mississippi. The townsends were poor sharecrppers. A share cropper someone who works on someone elses land and gives the owner 50% of what they make.
