Finally the truth about slavery was heard loudly, in the words of the ex-slave, Fredrick Douglass. Without Douglass' invaluable intelligence and writing it is possible that the path of abolishing slavery may have been extremely different. I found Douglass to be just who Garrison had described, a heroic and courageous man, who selflessly risked his life to fight for those who were captive.
