Our culture needs an engagement of scripture and social science, in which a tension must be both perceived and maintained if any basis for applying biblical principles to modern life is to be discovered. The church and the believer need to recognize this tension and deal with it realistically if the hermeneutical task is to be pursued with faithfulness and integrity.
