the moors, the young couple can have their lives back in their own control. Through pride, pain and agony Heathcliff has exerted his revenge on everyone he touched, even himself, paying the final price. Repaying the pain caused to him tenfold, for his suffering had been much worse, retaining every ounce of it to keep his rage burning on. Finally being able to rest, Heathcliff relieves himself of the pain and retires to the moors.
