her own dream. She wants to be with Manus. She does come to realise that this will never come to pass, but she needs that dream. She speaks to Manus because she trusts him and wants to please him. Without Manus, her power of speech was gone and we doubt she will ever speak again.
Dreams were very important to each of the characters. They each held on to their own dream until the last.
