At the end of the book, Iago is finally caught. This is because of the one person who saw through him the entire play, his wife, Emilia. Othello, finding out that he has wrongfully murdered Desdemona, commits suicide. Cassio becomes general in his place. Iago is arrested, and taken away to be tortured.
